Single speed bikes are a great idea for when the weather turns nasty… They’re cheaper to maintain, more reliable and they ensure you don’t wimp out on the climbs!
Genesis bikes have always been top of our list for practical, good value bikes and for 2014 they’ve thrown down the gauntlet with two awesome new single speed machines.
First up is the new Day One Disc ‘Cross bike cum commuter – £699.99
Cable activated discs and great handling mean this beauty is equally at home on forest tracks as it is on your daily commute. Run 28c tyres or thinner with mudguards on the road or break out the knobbly ‘cross tyres and get dirty the choice is yours.
If you like to stick to the tarmac then welcome to the all new Flyer – £699.99
Not just a new paint job this is basically a single speed version of the awesome Equilibrium road frame. Matched up with a steel fork this has got to be at the top of many peoples winter bike wishlist.
Lighter than the Day One, because it doesn’t need to cope with the stresses of off road riding, the Flyer has room to fit full mudguards and the standard 120mm track spacing means running fixed is also an option.
Both bikes are in stock now… which one is going to be on your Christmas list?
